Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Oregon, Ohio is celebrating 50 years of ministry in 2010!
Throughout the year, we have scheduled special events and activities and we hope that you will
be able to join us for the celebrations!
WORSHIP EVERY SUNDAY at 8 & 10:30 am. Sunday School and Adult Class at 9:15 am.
JANUARY
January 10 - Worship services will be held at Christ Dunberger VFW Post, located one mile east of the Prince of Peace campus.
It was at "the Post" that Prince of Peace had its humble beginnings, with the first service in September, 1959 at the Post. On
January 10, 1960, the constitution was signed, and the congregation was established. As we return to this original site this year,
we will use some of the original service and hymns used 50 years ago! A video of the history of the church will be shown at
at 9:15am. A reception will be held at the Prince of Peace campus at Noon.
January 31 - Special Sunday concert featuring Katie Jordan! The 8:00am service will be a normal service. The 10:30am service
will be the concert. Come and enjoy an hour of praise!
FEBRUARY
February 14 (Sunday) we will include an opportunity for married couples to renew their marriage vows at both services.
Valentines Day on Sunday is a good opportunity to celebrate the institution of marriage!
February 17 (Wednesday) is Ash Wednesday. Lenten mid-week services begin today. Supper at 5:30-6:45, worship at 7pm.
Ash Wednesday service will include the distribution of ashes and Holy Communion.
MARCH
We will observe Lent with the theme of "Walking with Jesus."
March 7 (Sunday), Joe Boway will be our guest speaker for the day. Joe is a mission developer, and has established Lutheran schools in Liberiea, West Africa. Prince of Peace has been financially supporting this mission effort, and we welcome Joe back to Prince of Peace to update us on what the Lord is doing through the schools.
March 28 - PALM SUNDAY - Prince of Peace annually relives the events of Holy Week through a dynamic presentation of the Passion Story on Palm Sunday. Worship with us at 8 & 10:30am.
March 28 - PALM SUNDAY - come and experience the "Journey to the Cross" from 2-3:30 at the church. You'll experience Passover foods, meet a centurion, hear from a money changer, and more! Experience a walk with Jesus for Holy Week1
APRIL
April 4 - EASTER SUNDAY - Easter breakfast between services. Special worship celebrations at 8 & 10:30am. Traditional worship at 8am, organ, brass and praise band at 10:30am.
April 19 (Sunday) - Pastor Mueller, a former pastor who served at Prince of Peace, will be guest speaker for the morning services.
A pot-luck will be held at noon in his honor, and is an opportunity for everyone to fellowship together.
April 25 - Mike & Becky Kuelker, missionaries to Mexico, will be speaking in worship services and during Sunday School for the adults.
MAY
May 2 (Sunday) - Youth confirmation
May 9 (Sunday) Mother's Day
May 16 (Sunday) Pastor David Luecke, son of former Pastor Luecke who served at Prince of Peace, will be guest speaker for the morning services. A pot-luck will be held in his honor, and is an opportunity for everyone to fellowship together.
May 30 (Sunday) Memorial Day Weekend - Patriotic Services
JUNE
June 6 (Sunday) Pastor Donald Weiss, former pastor of Prince of Peace, will be guest preacher at both services. A pot-luck will be held in his honor, and is an opportunity for everyone to fellowship together.
June 20 (Sunday) Father's Day
JULY
July 4 (Sunday) - OUTDOOR SERVICE AND CELEBRATION -
TENT SERVICE at 10:30am - Ohio District LCMS President, Terry Cripe, guest preacher. No 8:00 a.m. service July 4th.
HOG ROAST at Noon
FESTIVAL in the afternoon -
August 8th (Sunday) David Michael Carrillo in concert at both the 8 & 10:30 AM services.
SEPTEMBER
September 12 (Sunday) Rally Day, with Dr Ben Freudenburg, Professor of Family Life at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will be our guest speaker at both services. A Ministry Fair, featuring the many opportunities to serve the Lord at Prince of Peace, will take place throughout the morning as well. A pot-luck at Noon with afternoon events for the family will also take place.
OCTOBER
October 31 - Reformation Sunday - Also "Homecoming Sunday" for all former members to return for worship and fellowship. A special service will be featured in the morning services ( at 8 & 10:30am), and a potluck will be provided at noon. Our annual "Trunk or Treat" outreach event for the community will begin at 3pm.
NOVEMBER
Thanksgiving Eve Worship (Wednesday) will include our annual "Pie Fellowship" after the service.
DECEMBER
December 5th - Potluck at Noon for new members in 2010
Advent mid-week events will take place each Wednesday evening
Christmas Eve worship at 6 & 11pm
Christmas Sunday, Dec 26 - worship at 8 & 10:30am
